The overall objective of the project is to support the beneficial integration of the four MSG States into the world economy, thereby contributing to sustainable economic development and poverty reduction in these states. We will implement this project over 10 months through regional stakeholder consultations in Vanuatu, the Fiji Islands, Papua New Guinea and in the Solomon Islands on opportunities for trade facilitation improvements; the provision of capacity building services to the MSG Secretariat and the four PACPS Member States; the organization of a capacity building actions for the benefit of the main beneficiaries; and through the preparation of specific technical reports and organisation of validation meetings.
The Inception meeting took place on the 14th August 2017 at the MSG Secretariat. The team’s next mission is scheduled in November and December of this year ahead of the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu.
In the coming months, the team will work on a Gap Analysis, Training Needs Assessment, Shipping, Airline and transport connectivity Assessment, and an Online Business Directory Portal. The validation workshop is pencilled in for March 2018.
