Project Description

Title: Common OECS Services and Fisheries Trade Policies

Project Location: St Lucia

The overall objective of the project was to contribute to the sustainable economic development, social progression and poverty reduction in the OECS countries through closer regional integration and increased participation in the global economy.

The purpose of this technical assistance project was:

  • To address the convergence of the regulatory frameworks for services in the OECS Economic Union for the four target sectors;
  • To strengthen capacity in the OECS in project design and management in the domain of trade related assistance;
  • To develop an OECS approach to Fisheries Subsidies Rules Negotiations in the Multilateral Trading System and other negotiating arenas.

The project team achieved the above through consultations with regional stakeholders, capacity building services, training workshops, preparation of technical reports and result-oriented activities.

Enabling Environments, in consortium with A-Z Information Jamaica Limited, implemented this TradeCom II funded project based in St. Lucia, in OECS Member countries (Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines).
