Project Description
Title: Study on EAC Strategic Agro-Processing Value Chain
Project Location: East Africa Region (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda)
The objective of the agro-processing value chain study is to generate comprehensive baseline information with focus placed on upstream value added activities for products that incorporate: milk & milk products, grain & cereals, livestock, meat & meat products, vegetable oils products, beverages & fruit juices, as well as processing of industrial crops such as cotton and sisal, timber & timber products, sugar and leather products.
The specific objectives were:
- To identify required policy reforms and interventions necessary for streamlined, coherent and regionally coordinated development of the agro-processing value chains; and
- To generate essential information in terms of supply and demand in the value chain for the purposes of developing investment promotion tools for the agro-processing value chains.
